( 2022 - This history is shared by vice chairman Selvarajan a/l Duraisamy) Since the '70s, as many as 300 Indian families have lived in Lam San Estet. Initially, they used a stone as the idol of god to worship. In 1972 they decided to build a temple under a tree. Meanwhile, some Indian families left the estate because they could not find appropriate work. Therefore, the temple was left unguarded. After some time, the estate management decided to rebuild the temple. In 1975, a temple committees was formed and a new temple was built and named as Sri Maha Mariamman Lam San Estate Temple. In 1977, the first Annual Festival was held. Further in 1980 , additional buildings were built as meeting places and for other religious activities. The area of the temple building was expanded in 1990 to accommodate more devotees and the temple structure and its surroundings were renovated. The earlier cement flooring in the temple was replaced with tile floors in 2005. On 19 FEB 2016, the late Mr. Law Ah Cheng (Estate Manager) wanted to relocate the temple and the late estate manager agreed to the demands of the temple management’s request to give the temple a larger space around 1.5 acres of land to build the new temple on 1 FEB 2017. However, on 21 OCT 2017, after further discussion between the management of the temple and MR. Law Ah Cheng , the temple management consented to relocate the temple with the same land size as the original old temple. On 5 NOV 2017, earthworks to add and level up the earth (the new location of the temple) began. The groundbreaking ceremony to build the new temple was held on 17 DEC 2017 and on 30 JAN 2018, the construction of the new temple was complete and a new Amman idol was brought from India. Finally, the temple consecration ceremony was held on 4 FEB 2018.
