History
History
Approximately in 1890, forest clearing works were carried out for the establishment of estates. At the time, a group of labourers from Tamil Nadu, India, were brought in by the British for estate work. However, some of the workers from the group often fell ill and many residents in the area thought that it is due to supernatural factors. To solve the problem, a foreman named Mr. Nagulan who is from Vellore, Tamil Nadu, proposed to the farm management to build a temple. Mr. Nagulan began praying to the goddess Amman at the temple and held ceremonies based on religious beliefs from Tamilnadu. Among the ceremonies still practiced by the residents of the estate at the temple till today include 'tamil giraamathu thiruvila , aadi thiruvila, kool kaaicutal , theemithi , manjal neeratam and kulathivam poojai.
Significance
The uniqueness of this temple is that all adherents who come here will be given a canikai that is considered sacred and it is belived to be able to protect them.
