History

Sree Sivan Thirukovil was founded in 1969 by Mr. Sinapayan and family. The temple is located within 100 meters of Escort Farm. Originally, this area was the main tin mining area in Hulu Selangor. In the beginning, this area was inhabited by miners and squatters. A total of 20 temporary houses and longhouses were built for the miners. The daily and economic activities of the residents are working in tin mines, agriculture and animal husbandry. After the depletion of tin, some of the people who worked in tin mines moved to follow their employers. In 1969, Mr. Sinnapayan and his family built Sree Sivan Thirukovil for the religious needs of the local population of 50 people. Houses of worship, carvings and statues were built and created. Religious ceremonies and celebrations run smoothly and joyfully. All the locals and the Indian community from the nearby Escort Farm became devoted devotees of Sree Sivan Thirukovil. Mr. Kunchu Kanan has been a priest and caretaker (care taker) since the beginning of the creation of Sree Sivan Thirukovil.
