History
History
This temple was established in 1887 and has existed for 138 years. In the beginning the Telugu people established this temple for the purpose of worshiping their ancestors (Kuladeivam Valipaadu). Dewi Amman who is worshiped is a Goddess who once lived in a village in India called 'Annakapalli'. Telugu devotees have brought a handful of soil from the village to build a temple on this land. The estate dwellers here make a grand celebration for Amman every year (varundhanthira thiruvizha). The main ceremony in this temple is 'Kuladeivam Valipaadu.' One of the historical events is that Amman appeared in the dream of Stapathi (temple architect) and former Chairman to build this temple to pray to 'Mahesashura Marthini. This temple is also famous because all requests by devotees are fulfilled by Goddess Amman. Goddess Mahesashura Marthini often appears in the dreams of devotees to fulfill their wishes. Every year during 'Ugadi' festival, this temple has a celebration and prayers for three consecutive days. Now this temple is the focus of devotees in the surrounding area and some also visit the temple from afar.
