History
History
Thiruperunthiru Subramaniar Mambang Di Awan Temple is located in Kampar town. It was founded in 1942 by Indian workers who lived in Mambang Di Awan area. Initially the temple was built with a small hut. Then in 2008, a perfect stone building was built. This temple is a place of worship for the Indian community in the Mambang Di Awan area. The new building was built in a limited area and was completed in 2008. The temple building and facilities were not renovated for the second Kumbabishekam due to lack of funds. Although this temple continues to be the center of worship and cultural development of the Indian community in the Mambang Di Awan area, this temple is the only one in the Kampar area that is 80 years old.
Significance
The festivals that are celebrated on a grand scale at Thiruperunthiru Subramaniar temple are Panguni Uthiram and Shasthi Pooja (Thirukalyanam). Panguni Uthiram is celebrated in the month of Panguni and Sasthi Pooja (Thirukalyanam) in the month of Aippasi every year. Panguni Uthiram is celebrated for 10 days and Sasthi pooja is also held for 7 consecutive days. Among the special activities on Panguni Uthiram day is the "Radham Procession" and for Sasthi pooja there are Soorasamhaaram, Thirukalyaanam and Ponnoonjal activities. During the radham procession, Panguni Uthiram, Lord Murugan Statue, Lord Valli Statue and Lord Theivaanai Statue that are decorated with gold is brought out to parade around Mambang Di Awan district area. During Sasthi Pooja, Deva Murugan and Valli Theivaanai Statues that is decorated in gold will be released for Soorasamhaaram, Thirukalyaanam and Ponnoojal.
