History

The founder of Iskcon International HDG Srila Prabhupada visited Malaysia especially to Kuala Lumpur, Teluk Intan,Ipoh & Penang in 1971 and intended to see Krishna Temple in the country. In order to fulfill his intention Iskcon Teluk Intan was established in 1973.The founder was Iskcon Teluk Intan and Chairman was Dr.Ananda Natesa Pillay. Initially the consecration ceremony and activities were carried out from a shop in Pekan Teluk Intan owned by Dr.Ananda. There were several programmes conducted at Maha Mariamman Temple, Retnui Estate, Jalan Changkat Jong and Sri Ramar Temple at Batu 3 1/2 Jalan Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan e.g. Religious Class and Ratha Yatra Program. In 1980, a rental house in Taman Rethna, Jalan Manggis was rented to carry out religious activities. Programs were held every Sunday from 6.30 to 9.00 pm. Due to the response from the Hindu devotees and insufficient space, a temple was built at Lot.11667, Lorong Tembikai, Kg.Muhibbah, Teluk Intan. Only Bhagavan Dayal Nitai and Gaura Hari were placed at the moolastanam at first and only 5 years later new Panca Tattva was placed and participated with the rest of the Acarya. The temple teaches lessons in Bhagvadgita and promotes vegetable food (vegetarian) to the local community. The temple building is large and spacious and gives a cozy atmosphere to the visitors. Celebrations are held every month in the temple and outside the temple for the convenience of the locals and Hindu visitors.
