History
History
The temple was founded by a fisherman by symbolically planting a 'vel'. Then the locals began to frequent the temple and built a wooden hut as the first temple structure on the land. After building the hut, the idol of Muruga was placed there and after a few years, another three idols namely Vinayagar, Amman and Muniswarar were placed there too. The importance of this temple is basically for the purpose of worship. The uniqueness of the building structure is that the temple was built using wood like a hut and has now been rebuilt with cement. The collaboration from the local community enables the temple's festive activities to run smoothly.
Significance
The main attraction of the temple is during the "Pangguni Utthiram' festival where many devotees bring kaavadi, paal kudum and alavu as a gratitude for their fulfilled wishes. During the night, there will be a 'Ratham Oorvalam' parade.
