History
History
In the 1940s, a Hindu place of worship was established by the workers of the Bukit Chandan palace of Kuala Kangsar. This temple is estimated to be 82 years old. Between 1972 to 1978, a temple was established by the workers by performing a special ceremony conducted by Sithar Arumugam (a religious saint) from India. Subsequently, in 2011 the om SHAKTI SIVANANTHA RAJA MALAI MAHA MUNISWARAR BUKIT Chandan Kuala Kangsar temple was registered under the Registration of Societies Department of Malaysia. In early 2011, Mr. R.Thoraiappa's (Chairman) and Mr. S.Muniswaran (Secretary) and members of his committee got the government's permission to do the consecration ceremony (Kumbabhishegam) for the temple and on 18 November 2012 the ceremony was conducted successfully.
Significance
The Raja Malai Maha Muniswarar deity in this temple is considered special because it is the first Raja Malai Muniswarar in Kuala Kangsar. This temple is considered as an ancestral worship temple (kula deivam kovil) for the Hindu population of Kuala Kangsar. Every year, all the members of the families living all over the country will come to this temple to perform special prayers for the wellbeing of their respective family members.
